yeah, it's pretty good. it was my first SRPG so i'm not actually sure how it stacks up to others, but what i do know is that it has a fuck huge ass ton of content. after the "final" boss something like 40 sub-stories get unlocked, and they are NOT short.

The Japanese title is "Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition", which tells you exactly what it's about, a crossover between the two franchises. It's pretty fun, but kinda dumbed down for the kiddies compared to the regular Nobunaga games.

And yeah, the "main story" you start off playing is actually just the tutorial mode. The actual game gets unlocked afterwards in the form of a dozen or so scenarios, all roughly equal in length to the tutorial one.

unfortunately it's way too stupidly simple and easy to be a fun TBS, it handles way more like a disgaea or fire emblem game with training wheels than a nobunaga's ambition game which has all kinds of grand strategy aspects to it completely missing from conquest. I don't really know why they made this but I don't really mind either, some people probably had fun with it.

Allegedly the original plan was to do a Pokemon/Fire Emblem crossover, but someone important (Masuda?) was a big fan of Nobunaga's Ambition and really wanted to work with that franchise instead.

Explains why the game plays more like FE than NA.

Fire Emblem Pokémon edition.
You will need to match up the right Pokémon with the right humans, so you can't really use any Pokémon you want. Luckily, the main characters Pokémon is Eevee.
The recruitment of new human characters is cryptic so you should consort the Wiki about that.

Overall a fun time.

Yeah, its pretty fun. As another anon mentioned, a lot of content even if the gameplay isn't super complex.

Yeah it's another victim of from when they were attempting a soft-reboot with Gen 5, with Gen 3 and especially Gen 2 having minimal representation.

Fact is that Pokémon conquest has a simular anime artstyle to Fire Emblem and a simular gameplay too. You could compare it to advance war too if you really want to.

I also think that the choice of including Terrakion over Virizion stinks, but then again, I am the only person on earth who actually gives a shit about Virizion so it kinda makes sense.

Ninetails should really have been in this game, being inspired by Japanese mythology. It's such a shame.

But that shitty guild master made it in somehow. I guess he has enough freetime to participate in Conquest since he makes all his money from dumbass "taxes".

I had fun, but it can get repetitive, especially since there's absolutely no story to speak of. I enjoyed imported cheese's tier list on the warlord and Pokemon.
My favorite Pokemon's best match is the cutest girl, so that's a plus.

Its good but the problem is that the main story is like a 50+ hour tutorial, especially if you plan on making the most of it and grind it can easily turn to 100+ hour tutorial. After that you unlock the ability to do the story of each warlord leader, which is essentially the same map again but with different objectives depending on which story you are doing and brand new mechanics you don’t see in the main story such as enemies actually grinding their mons and resources and attempting to take over your kingdoms.
I could easily put 400+ hours into the game and still not complete its pokedex which I believe is the actual challenge.
I highly recommend abusing passwords to get swarm pokemon as it is the single most bullshit mechanic in this game.

The reason why people say its easy is because they only did the main story then dropped it.
When the game actually starts in the post game, while I wouldn’t say the game is super difficult, strategy and proper resource management become a lot more important and you are capable of actually losing your momentum in the early stages of a scenario if you let one of your enemies get too strong.

i half agree with this but only in the sense that the game is "easy" if you have too far of a lead on land and levels. if you don't let yourself get caught out it can feel like somewhat of a stompfest. it takes some knowledge/planning to get to that point, so it's not "pick anything and win with anything" as some seem to imply, but it isn't that high of a ceiling to reach either is what im getting at.
that being said i had a blast playing through the game 100% and would highly recommend it.

Yes thats the point, that doesn’t mean the game is “easy” it means that the games difficulty lies mainly at the beginning of a scenario, where you have to carefully manage resources and attack the most threatening targets early to prevent then from gaining momentum. The difficulty is not really “easy” imo just average. The game is far to simplistic and every battle amounts to just exploiting weaknesses due to pokemon only having one move. Warlords spice it up a bit having stuff like heals and buffs but the game is inherently basic at its core. For what it is I would say its very well done with acceptable difficulty, I would’ve liked seeing a sequel to the game.

Yeah, they sometimes send attackers to your castles that you had to defend against, but those were few and far in between.

I guess there is a little strategy in which order you take the castles so you don't have to defend on multiple fronts, but it's miniscule.

3) Basically, if you ever played a fire emblem or any turn-based tactic game (triangle strategy would be a good example here) you can get the hang of it, you pasically move your pieces on a board to beat your opponents pieces, the trick is that the pieces are pokemon with all their differences and quirks and the board is wacky as shit, since it really depends on where you are fighting so the objectives and the mean to those objectives often vary

i remember playing this from a rental copy at my local library as a kid in like 2012 and enjoying the fuck outta this game before i had to return it, but never got my own copy unfortunately.

last year i tried playing it again using twilight menu ++ on my dsi, but the rom kept crashing randomly after like 1-2 hours of playing making me lose all my save progress. It was reasonably fun, but not enough to get me to troubleshoot the issue so i retired the game again.
