It actually makes the game marginally easier due to the way exp works in gen 5. Hard mode just makes it so most trainers have their mons 2-5 levels higher and adds an extra mon for each gym leader, and since your Pokemon get more exp when facing Pokemon of a higher level, you can raise your Pokemon to a higher level faster.

I found some convoluted means to do it which has a bunch of silly steps.

I at no point implied that. If anything, your logic means the game prevents you from being too over leveled either, since EXP gains are reduced. Regardless, this only happens if you go out of your way to battle as much as possible or only use like three mons max

if you keep getting exp you'll get overleveled. The game doesn't reduce exp enough to prevent overleveling. Anyone who's played Gen 5 knows this. But weirdly Gen 5 fanboys like yourself are unfamiliar with how your own favorite game works. BW2 challenge mode is the first time in a playthrough one of my Pokemon literally hit lv100 because of how hard the game overleveled me and I was using 4 other Pokemon on top of that.

the level curve grows at the same time. you're ignoring this variable and just pretending like gaining exp at all is a problem, and that the less it happens, the better

most people online tend to disagree, so it's obvious you're just lying on an anonymous board because it costs you nothing. held items, better movesets, better ai, more mons to beat between healings, and more competitive teams for type specialists objectively make the game harder, even if levels had never changed in an alternate universe.
You're trying to maintain that the challenge mode makes the game easier because it overlevels you relative to the level curve, but there is no way it does this any more than an identical playthrough in normal mode

I only said that it wouldn't over level you MORE than normal mode. Your whole argument is that it made the game easier, so this argument of "it over levels you more makes zero sense. On top of that, you're framing it as if the game even had over leveling as a common occurrence, which I disagree with but I'll stick to the crux of the argument
