It makes little sense to even consider that since the games themselves have loose canon in regards to the male or female MC and their accomplishments, see how they almost never show up in subsequent games or how the regional champions are still treated as such when they reappear.
In the case of this novel, the author and TPC probably found it easier to use a customized MC with a different name and hairstyle from the default ones since she also has dialogue and her own personality. It's like Ash having a different name and design from Red despite being derived from him and having the same role.
