I don't get it. Crobat is based. I've always wanted to use a Crobat in my teams but every time i start training a Zubat it becomes an underperformer before it gets the chance to evolve so i end up replacing it

zubats have been pretty swole since gen 4 w/ bite at 13 and wing attack at 17, and those moves have only become earlier in subsequent gens.

Actually the random calls you get in emerald suck ass. In HGSS you can decline saving people's numbers but in emerald you save every single person's number and it's annoying as fuck

And if that's just too much of an issue, just start leveling it once you're far enough where it will evolve.

Yeah, but its really not hard to carry a zubat to Golbat. Once you do they'll easily clear most things their level and all the carrying they do means they'll build friendship fast.
Crobat may be the easiest/fastest to evolve pokemon of its power level in any game

The regional dex locking in FRLG and Emerald was one of the dumbest decisions GF ever made for this series, almost as bad as dexcut and r*gional forms. Shit was just pure annoyance for no benefit whatsoever.

Emerald wasn't so bad since all you needed to do was beat the game to unlock the national dex and full trading, but FRLG having you do an optional post-game quest for it was fucking retarded. I can't tell you how many times I was trying to trade or battle with someone as a kid only to get cockblocked because they didn't do the stupid quest. It was retarded.

Funnily enough, the way Ruby and Sapphire handle the national dex is one of the only smart things about those games. You can just trade whenever the fuck you want with anyone and if you happen to get a non-Hoenn pokemon while you're still on the Regional Dex then you just have that pokemon and don't get a dex entry for it. I don't remember how you trigger the national dex in Ruby and Sapphire but it doesn't even matter so who cares. FRLG should have done the same thing, if you evolve your Golbat into Crobat you just have a pokemon outside of the pokedex, who cares.

When I played Sapphire for the first time I found a shiny Zubat in Granite Cave and since he was my first shiny I couldn't not use him. Taught me that Crobat is actually a cool guy, and now he's one of my favorites.
