>>54850932>How are you handling evolutions and version exclusives?Good question - for evolutions, I'll be catching whatever is available in the wild, and then evolving what's necessary to complete the dex from there. For version exclusives, I'll be trading over those from a finished diamond save that I use to store my mons from gen 3 and 4 games.
>>54850954>Why would I need a bunch of unnessesary Pokémon to rot inside my box? Also a good question! That's actually something I was going to address in the OP post, but didn't because it made it feel bloated. I too used to feel the same way as you, I'd only ever catch the 5 pokemon I wanted to use with my starter on any given playthrough and not bother with the dex. I figured if I wasn't going to use them then why bother? But, for this particular playthrough, I wanted to truly 100% the game's content, partaking in EVERYTHING the game has to offer, and really immersing myself in the experience as though I were discovering it all for the first time. I'll be exploring every area, battling every trainer, talking to every NPC, completing the full pokedex, beating the battle tower, beating all the contest ranks, and just generally doing all the little side shit that no one ever bothers with. I mean fuck - I'm even periodically stopping to look at the pokedex info for every mon I catch and fuck around with the cry thing. Main reason I'm doing this is just cause I never have before, despite having been playing the series for most of life. And, roughly a quarter of the way through the game, I can honestly say that I'm really really liking it, enjoying every facet of the game in tandem like this feels like the right way to play. I may not bother to truly use every pokemon I catch, but simply having them all on stand by if I do ever decide I want to train another one up for any reason feels nice, its like unlocking all the characters in a fighting game.
