The anime ruined Ghost types by making them into Casper le Friendly Ghost. They’re only shown as mischievous pranksters at worst, meaning literally anyone could handle a ghost type Pokemon. Whereas in the dex / games some ghost types straight up kill people, scream in their face and give them heart attacks, kidnap kids, cause mass disturbances, etc
Ghosts should be an “extreme” type like Dragons or Fighting. Barely anyone is qualified to raise a Dratini all the way to Dragonite (unless you’re a dragon clan lunatic), few people want to get their faces bruised by a Primeape, and trainers should fear the Ghosts.
