How long is a piece of string? I've gave up on hunts after 5 mins because I wasn't feeling the hunt and gone months for others because I really wanted the shithead. It's all relative.

Celebi's gonna kill me, but I gotta do it before 3DS and Bank die. At the least, want to get Treecko and Slowpoke before Indigo Disk to make it a little more fun to play, having Archaludon and Porygon-Z right off the bat is a helluva help.

I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted on Darkrai for spooky month since I had other hunts going on, but to have made it to almost 11k encounters was probably the closest I've gotten to burning out, and I went around 102 hours in Emerald for Groudon.
Don't think I'll get to hunt it again for spooky month 2024 so I'll have to set aside my autism just to secure the shiny before Bank shuts down (I like matching thematics to capture dates and all that if I can help it)

If it takes more than a few hours, I don't care and give up. I only shiny hunt on modern games with methods with good odds. Not gonna waste months soft resetting for a shiny Cyndaquil in HGSS if I can catch one in Legends in 30 minutes.

on average, about 40 hours per shiny, I don't track encounters, just time wasted.
ironically enough, ariados is my longest hunt. I found 6 shiny stantler before one blue spider and only bothered catching 4.

Every time I really try shiny hunting, I never have success. I tried to MM rufflet. I gave up after 1000 egg hatching with no results.

I was casually hatching riolu eggs and got a shiny in the fifth one, tho.

Trying to farm G-MAX RNG'd raids nowadays is hell. I don't want to lock the den, but 5% odds of 33% 5* chance, plus base ball odds... May just do an overworld RNG manip at this point, if I'd have done it straight away I'd have had one many hours ago

Do people do that? I've just been using SWSH for eggs and DA for some Legendaries/UBs I want in Shiny colors. If it's an easier way to go for Shiny Galvantula than hatching eggs, I'm all for it. This Treecko does not want to show up, and it's turning me off any further Masuda-ing.
