Gen 5's aliased as fuck animated sprites range from garish to acceptable, but something about Onix's sprite is just offensively bad to me. Like Onix is just in a whole tier of bad on its own. The first time I ever saw any Gen 5 gameplay was my friend fighting a wild Onix and it just stuck with me, like the first time you hit a wild animal with your car.

In my opinion, one of the shittiest pokemon sprites is Golduck. Its sprite does not accurately reflect its design and looks quite bland compared to its official artwork. The sprite looks very washed out and the facial expression is pretty boring. Besides that, the way its hands are just floating there is also a little bit weird. Overall, the sprite does not look good and does not do justice to Golduck's original design in my opinion.

Gold's Sunflora looks really poorly made, it looks way too fucking chunky.
Strangest part is Silver had a pretty decent sprite, but then they used the shitty Gold sprite in Crystal instead.

Ruby/Sapphire /Emerald Rattata has always looked weird to me. The whiskers are too thick and one of its eyes looks really bad.

It’s the same sprite that’s used in SW97. Gold just ran with a lot of the beta sprites with slight edits. It’s why Silver’s look so much better imo.
