Only retards who don't play the game think mixed attackers are bad in general; Infernape, Grenigger, and Iron Valiant are perfect examples of mons with highly viable sets using both special and physical moves. Lopsided defense also means nothing because it can be shored up with evs; ursaluna is weak to special attacks but has such retardedly high hp that all it needs is an assault vest or the right spread to tank anything. The same goes for similar mons

Specialized defenders are only bad in high offense metas, but defense . In metas where you can swap a lot like 6v6 singles they're not bad at all because they can just swap out of something that threatens them.

Mixed attackers also aren't inherently bad, the problem is when they're not fast or bulky on top of it. Hence the SFMA meme. But having passable speed or good bulk makes mixed attackers and sets work just fine. Adding to what's been listed before, there's also Garchomp, and Nidoking has been known to run Superpower in specific metas. There's probably others but those are the ones I could name offhand from Gen 4+.

It's just a side effect of unchecked powercreep. Why would you use the balanced 100Atk/90SpA instead of the minmaxed 150Atk/30SpA which also has the reminder in Speed?

And also you don't have to always run mixed sets on them, the point is that if you see a Iron Valiant in preview you can't be 100% sure if it's going to be physical, special or mixed.

Mixed attack is decently useful for walls that are putting all of their EVs into defenses, but on fully offensive mons it's really only useful for surprise. EVs and natures means that even if both your attacking stats are exactly the same trying to use both special and physical moves on the same mon means you're going to be doing much less damage on one instead of the other and on top of that you're probably paying for your mixed attack with lower speed or bulk because muh BST.

Also, lopsided defenders are fine in singles because of how insanely hard they shit on the Pokemon they wall. In doubles though they suffer a lot because it's pretty easy to have both a physical and a special attacker on the field at the same time, so it's much harder to an abuse your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses.

Mixed offenses are generally bad because you are in full control of the moves you use, there’s never a situation where you have to run a physical move on a special attacker. On the other hand you’ll be taking both phys and special hits all the time so it’s good to have all-around bulk instead of 400 physdef and falling over the first special hit.

Not really, they have actually very similar movepools, though Mothim lacks Sleep Powder which is utility most QD's users like to have.

Neither of them have the movepool or stats to really make good use of a physical set, also Mothim only has 4 more base special attack since since Gen 7 at the cost for 10 less speed.

Hitting special sponges like Blissey, if the special attacker has a decent attack stat and Close Combat running it means that their main special wall is invalidated.
