I don't think GF thought this much about it but that would be a good point.
It honestly does make me really sad that we will never get to experience so many crazy species that used to live a long time ago. And we won't even know how most of the fossils we did find looked when they were alive. They could have had crazy colors or patters that we will never get to see. :(

Pluto should be a planet because the definition of planet that delegitimized it is ridiculous, under it Neptune shouldn't be a planet either for the same reason Pluto - their orbits intersect - but only Pluto got the boot. A proper definition of a planet would encompass any body large enough to be spherical under its own gravity and not large enough to begin nuclear fusion in its core. I care about science and I'll still always be mad about Pluto.

After Pluto was discovered, scientists thought it was around earth size.
Then, better telescopes were made. Still a dot. Maybe half the size of the earth.

People had to build Hubble and use star occultations to know this world is just 1,500 miles across. This was already the time scientists questioned whether Pluto can be considered as a planet or not.

If that was the standard the Solar System would have over 20 planets, as there are many spherical objects that orbit the Sun. That's why we needed something else as one more criteria for size. Neptune cleared its orbit of Debris. Pluto did not.

It's not about how clear the orbit is. It's about whether the object has enough gravity to clear that orbit. The same way rule number two is that it has enough gravity to pull itself into a spherical shape. It has to be dominant in its region, not be a cuck to other things constantly.
