So I only played Pokemon Yellow, Silver, and Ruby as a kid and I unga-bunga'd my way through those games, not really learning anything. I just started Scarlet and I had a few questions about how to go about playing the game and how to get the most out of it. I plan on beating the single-player and afterwards doing post-game and DLC, and battling friends and people online semi-casually. Here are my questions:
-How should I view building my team(s)? It seems like the thing to do is to just get through the main story with whoever and not worry so much about team composition since it's easy, but is it smart to start IV/EV training and breeding good mons before I've gotten to the post-game? What do most people do?
-Should I pay any attention to IVs, EVs, and breeding at all as I'm going through the main game, or are those things more of a post-game team building concern?
-Any permanently missable type stuff or really precious and scarce resources I should hang on to and only use when I know what I'm doing?
-Is it smart to evolve pokemon pretty much as soon as I'm able? For example I have a Bonsly and it needs Mimic to evolve which it learns at lvl 16. Should I go ahead and evolve it then?
-On a similar note, is it always good to train or breed a pokemon from its baby form (if it has one) onward or is it fine to catch one that's at a later evolution stage and use them seriously? Is it always better to breed a pokemon to use versus catching it in the wild? Are traded pokemon viable to use?
-Is the online friendly towards people who just want to have fun battling casually and not getting too deep into the competitive stuff?
-Should I ever use rare candies?
Okay that's all I got. Sorry for the massive wall of text.
