Is it just me or is the current meta really fast, statwise?

I don't understand why everything is minimum 280 and slight investment gives you 350.

Still though, we laugh at Alola for being hilariously slow but they were right

Gen 8 tried fixing the Gen 7 "mistake", but there wasn't a reason to, considering most mons could be 80-90 base speed with maybe a couple of hundreds in there.

If you're fast you can do enough damage to not take any damage. The only counter for this would be Gamefreak actually making damaging moves that do more damage if you get that don't suck If Avalanche was 80 BP instead of 60 and doubled if you got hit, a lost of these fast twink would be punished. That's what shit like Pursuit was used for, punishing frail mons who try and come in and hit and run and Gamefreak stopped that. The only way to counter Speedcreep is to fat mons like Iron Hands where if you don't actually one shot it you're getting punished

The thing is that gen 7 didn't really fix anything. The fast Pokemon from the previous there or so gens were there and were still fast. All they really did was fuck over the Alola mons. But even in Alola you had speed niggers like Tapu Koko and Pheromosa.

No, its HP stats that need to be rised on many mons that are considered bulky in universe.
Magmortar, Electavire, Steelix, they all should have at least +30HP

Speed has always been the meta.
The way speed works is dumb. They should make it work like in PLA where speed isn't the god stat.

Hitting twice isn't the same as hitting always and never taking any damage.

That's what you get when every pokemon has one utterly useless stat (atk or sp.atk). Over time, new mons get their stats more and more optimized resulting in greater useful stats all around, speed included.
