Am I the only one whose favorite games are SM/USUM?

I'm conflicted about USUM. I like SM more for the story, but I like a lot of what USUM added. The 7th generation is my second favorite, but I can't pick between the two myself.

There's from the core gameplay-wise nothing wrong with Gen 7 but if you're touching them for the first time, you will by default always go for USUM because it's the enhanced experience. Unless you're more for the story (Which is still meh for Pokemon), there is no reason to touch SM.

Not to mention the Kanto-pandering getting worse in USUM where they are pushing Gen 1 or the aroran forms of Kantomons more.

but i can safely say it was my favorite mainline gen with my favorite set of new pokemon, trainers, locations and aesthetic. i think SWSH was a step down in terms of cohesive theme and it feels like SV is just playing catch up from what they nailed in SM

As far as actually playing the generations, I had the least fun with Gen 7. Even the switch titles I had more fun with.
But, conceptually, I respect Gen 7 the most out of the nu-Pokémon games. Gen 6 and 8 are creatively bankrupt, and Gen 9, while a few highlights are around, clearly is past the point of saving. Gen 7 at least put a genuine step forward in attempting to do something fun, I just think it utterly failed in execution.

It would have been one of the best games if the story was interesting and if the cutscenes were reduced by 3/4 and if the mao wasnt just hallways and corridors and if the UB worlds werent also just hallways and corridors.
