OP you appear to have confused BDSP and PLA. A simple mistake to make.

But yes it makes no sense to waste time and money on BDSP just for Arceus when you can get that kino Arceus experience in PLA. What were they thinking, eh?

BDSP Arceus isn't shiny locked so you can get a non-event shiny Arceus legitimately for the first time. Good luck with the 4k odds.

I got Dialga in under 10 resets in my BD playthrough. 4k is nothing, I shiny hunted Suicune twice in 4 months on those odds (forgot to save it first time).

Is BDSP any good for someone who never played gen 4? Or don't bother? The artstyle seems kinda cute

I loved gen 1-2, really liked 3, never played 4-5, liked 6, indifferent to 7, hated 8 and disliked 9. Haven't played PLA or LGPE.

Yes. Either BDSP or emulate Platinum - either one is fine

BDSP is more like the modern games (with fairy type, new QoL, no HMs, easy EXP share etc.)
while Platinum is more like the older ones where you will still have HM slaves around
