In-universe? Kitakami natives were massive xenophobes back in the olden days, not much more to it.
I'd argue her current standing with Kitakami is even worse though, despite having the truth about Ogerpon and the Loyal Three, they're going to continue relying on the false legends that parade the scumbags as heroes and the innocent as a monster because that's what brings in tourism to keep their isolated little slice of the world thriving.
