god damn does game freak need to get their performance sorted out. it's unity shovelware levels of poor optimization. They clearly tried as shadows of buildings disappear as you pan the camera around, but that makes me think the culling is too extreme, and I'm thinking a lot of the character and mon models are actually too good for the switch to handle.

Worst mainline game to date.
The open world felt more empty than the linear routes, how they managed to do that I have no clue.
The characters all look like tumblr OC's.
The artstyle looks fucking ugly.
It's glitchy mess and tons of QoL got removed for no reason.
Also online is a buggy mess and dont get me started on raids.

It was a rushed and unpolished mess to keep up with merch and anime sales.
TPC is so unorganised they deserve a fucking beating. But GF's arrogance for keeping a small dev team despite being the most grossing franchise is the biggest blunder here. They are just as money hungry.

Despite the dogshit performance, the "open world" being a joke and the in-game trainers somehow being even easier than before I'll probably never get over Pageeta's team, I still had more fun with it than with Sw/Sh. Tera is an incomparably better gimmick than dynamax and it's a bit depressing knowing they'll replace it again (possibly with something worse). Regardless of what you may feel about the story, at least it has one and does a better job at making the characters likeable. All in all having low expectations is probably the main reason I liked it but I still can't justify spending money on it

The funniest Pokemon game
Only games I’ve ever played before that were Emerald, Platinum, Heartgold
For me it’s the QOL compared to GBA/DS games, in all departments, the gameplay flows well
Also as a kid, when playing Emerald, I’ve always daydreamed about a 3D open world Pokemon game, despite the game looking and running like liquid shit, it still lives up to this daydream of mine
I played through the first DLC this weekend and had a blast as well

It was okay. Not the best Pokemon game by a longshot, but definitely better than XY or Shit and Shart. It was a middling Gen that had potential to be much more, if Gamefreak invested more than the minimum effort into each game.

Yes, I consider them the best games in the entire franchise.
And I played every main games day one since 1999 so it's not coming from a zoomer.

Doesn't mean the technical issues are forgiven. I wouldn't buy their next games if they release in the same state. It can't happen twice.
Having a incomplete Pokédex was always going to be a thing eventually so I'm not that mad about that.

I started a week ago after not touching one of these games since Gen 6 and not enjoying those games. This has been fun. A shame about the technical issues, especially for a franchise that generates as much revenue as Pokemon, maybe they're figure their shit out in the next game, maybe not, probably not.

Loved it. As shitty as the performance is, design-wise it was a good accomplishment. The story and characters were fun, too. I hope they expand on what they did with SV, especially in regards to sending your pokemon out to collect shit on their own.
