One thing I hate about the pokemon of this gen isn't how some of them are objectmons, but how samey so many of them are. It feels like there are far too many pokemon who are just copies of each other (the elemental monkeys, the genies, the karate mons, Basculin's forms barely have any differences between each other etc)
I don't think any of the older gens had a big issue with this, including gen 3, who actually had a gimmick of having multiple duos of pokemon like Volbeat/Illumise or Minun/Plusle.
