Also it pretty ironic that you mention Johto, when nearly all the evolutions for Johto mons tend to lean towards sleeker or cooler and are ether beloved or at least tolerated with the only one widely considered to a dud being Ambipom. Kanto/Hoeen mons are the ones that became "fatasses" while being much more controversial
