>What is with all the padding?The sidequests? Just a way to flesh the enviroments out a little. I thought the main story was more concise than the first game's which had more chapters but each only advanced the plot a tiny bit for the most part.

Don't think so since Mewtwo bothered to rescue him. He got separated from Deoxys and his soul returned to his body.
