>>54917405I think it's because it had to kind of sanitise itself to keep that mass appeal, when it wasn't clear what a hit pokemon was it felt like there was definitely a lot more freedom in what they can do, and how they even reference things like japanese festivals and stuff, when you get the whole world loving the series they want to make it as broad as possible
