If I really liked Pokemon Violet, should I get Pokemon Sword?

I really like Mari and Gloria, but I've heard constant mixed reviews about the game itself.

I know other anons are saying things about how swsh is good. Anecdotally, I enjoyed scarlet and it's dlc very much and I think it is far superior to sword and shield. I also enjoyed Legends Arceus too, and I think it is arguably better than scarlet violet in some regards. Sword and shield however was a slog for me, and I did not enjoy the main game all that much. I didn't play the DLC though so that may be a factor.

Arlo liked SV and hated SWSH so, it's possible but unlikely that you will dislike SWSH.

The main issue is that the story is almost non-existent until the end and even then, it's weak and makes little sense. The DLC helps a lot with that, but then your essentially jumping back and forth between two games.

Only as a cameo. She will show up on the Isle of Armor in a certain spot on certain days of the week. She doesn't battle you, just talks.

Honestly you're not missing much if you skip Sword/Shield. You have to put up with Hop's incessant whining about being a loser until the end of the post-game. He is literally the worst rival in the franchise, more so than Bede, who actually has a respectable character arc.

In terms of actual mons and gameplay, Scarlet/Violet only does worse with the framerate issues, but comes out on top in every other metric.

I would just wait patiently for the Switch 2 and the next gen. If you're really looking for more Pokemon, consider Legends: Arceus instead if you like the feeling of old-school Pokemon.

That's actually pretty lame.

I found a third part key seller and I can get Pokemon Sword for 25$, which is less than half the retail price. So I might as well just grab it. Just to have it if nothing else.
