Torterra is a worse Venusaur
Infername is ugly and boring and only liked by people who's first anime was DP
Empoleon is the first jobmon starter and is ugly on top of that.

Gen 4 starters are mid to low tier, we're infested with sinnohfetuses who think they're good, however.

For sure, I always have a hard time deciding between Piplup and Turtwig whenever I play Sinnoh. I think I probably choose Piplup more often because Surf is good on it. Very good starter trio overall.

Honestly, they did pretty good all things considered, probably the 3rd best generation of starters. Having 2/3 good first forms and 2/3 good last forms is much better than the average.
