>>54929777>Gen 5 gives the player virtually no agencyI thought it was mostly fine. A game can be incredibly linear while having a great sense of exploration and adventure (take Twilight Princess as an example), and you're way over exaggerating the limitations of these games.
Starting from route 3, all the routes are very expansive, have a bunch of different paths and items to find, not to mention that there's a pretty big amount of optional areas to find in the games.
Also, gens 6, 7 and 8 all have this problem to a much worse extent
>White Treehollow is just a watered down version of the Battle Pyramid with no replayability.Subjective. I found it okay
>The PWT is just a watered down version of the Battle Dome with no challenge. You forgot to mention it includes every gym leader and champion up to that point. Just this fact makes it one of the best battle facilities. Also, playing in Doubles, Triples or Rotation makes it harder and very fun
>There's no trainer customization. There's no super training. There's no amie.Gens 1 to 4 also don't have any of that
>There's no contests or pokeathlon equivalent. There's no secret bases.Yeah, I miss those as well. They should've had at least a contest equivalent.
I liked the Movie Studios, though. It played like a puzzle game where you had to guess which Pokémon and which attack to use based on clues in the script
>The entire game has this feeling that none of your choices really matter because the difficulty is so non-existent you can beat basically anything, including the postgame facilities with any Pokemon and the map design gives you almost no choices to explore different paths. That's just wrong, dude. The region itself is linear but the routes are incredibly expansive and have a bunch of alternate paths. They are very fun to explore
>story that pretends like it wants you to take it seriously yet has everyone act like complete clownsTotally agree. Pokémon should've never focused on story to begin with
