The game's quality was questionable throughout the entirety of the beginning (Retard-kun's Corvisquire's wings clipping through the Dmax clouds in the first gym battle, the battle with Hop on a bridge that turns into a field background), but you can tell they just gave up by the time you got to the hallway known as Spikemuth.
