>>54931380I like A LOT about gen 8.
First of, Gigantamax forms, they are the coolest looking men, dudes, monsters ever been in this series. everything about them is just perfect and amazing, with absolute peaks like the GigaUrshifus that are just peak monsters in general. Absolute masterpieces
then, it's one of the generations that most blatlantly continues and elaborates the poké-mon lore, which is very enjoyable and appreciable
It got a lot of very nice music and design, such as the gym battles in general, the wild area that is very cool lookin and one of the coolest places in pokémon so far
It got many flaws too, however, which is also reflected on some of the music being the blandest in the series, i think gen 9 had none as ugly; the macro cosmos grunt's theme
mustard's theme
and various others that are so dull.
It got not so many strong points, and its biggest flaw it's probably the very fact that after such amazing masterpiece gens like 6 and 7 that innovated so vastly
almost infinitely, it should've been an ahsolutely great generation also due to its landing on a relatively powerful console like switch, compared to the other handleds. It's overall still good, but I think gen 9 got much more strong points and in general more quality (though, it depends, as for example gen 9 got no cool divine forms yet except from the generic teras and from the tera masks)
So I believe gen 8 and 9 are generally lesser in quality than the 3DS era, however between each others, they both got strong points that overcome that of the other gen, but overall gen 9 is surely better.
I didnt play gen 8 though, and since after playing, I came to like gen 9 so much more than before playing it, and I also noticed a lot of ludic worth as well by playing it myself, it's possible that after playing gen 8 I'll like it more than gen 9, though it's unlikely, but I already think I like galar's vibe more
