It doesn’t matter if they’re displayed larger to make each pixel take up four; the sprite is still 96x96. You could blow it up on a 16k tv entirely and it’ll still be a sprite that is 96x96. How about you pick up a dictionary and realize that you’re referring to pixel density? It’ll save you a lot of time, but will probably hurt your ego, even though this site is anonymous.
Your next point, therefore, is moot. Your dream back sprites are double the resolution of the front sprites. They are 192x192. That would look like shit as soon as the camera moved because back sprites are rendered very close to the camera. This is what everyone has been spoonfeeding you throughout the entirety of this thread, and all you’ve done is play semantics, falsely at that.
I’m BEGGING you to look up what resolution and pixel density really are , juxtapose them, and post them here for us to see.
