>>54954190Respecfully disagree, personally I like using 10-15 mons in Gens 1-5 because it puts me at a fairly significant level disadvantage, which forces me to make use of actual strategy to win. Its the same reason I prefer using shitmons, it’s just more satisfying for me to win an uphill battle using my thorough knowledge of the mechanics than it is to power through every battle with a few overleveled powerhouses. Would it TECHNICALLY be more efficient and effective to do that? Yes, but why prioritize that over a satisfying experience? For me, the challenge of the games has always been to train as many Pokémon as you can throughout your adventure. I view the ability to train more Pokémon (without resorting to grinding of course, which is kinda the game’s fail-safe for lack of proper skill) as being reflective of one’s abilities; when I was a kid, I was only really able to train a few mons, then eventually, as I got better (and older) I started training full teams, and now that I basically know the games inside and out I train multiple teams and shuffle them around as necessary. It seems weird to me how some people (yknow the one) need to be “incentivized” to use more Pokémon than just their starter, for me, the desire to train Pokémon is the incentive for playing these games to begin with.
