Individually overpowered Pokemon does not make the type "too superior for OU". Genesect and Volcarona being banned doesn't mean Bug is "too superior for OU", but it would by your standards.

You don’t see Groundchads whine about Fissure or Groudon or Sand Veil. You don’t see Fairychads whine about Zacian or Xerneas being banned. You don’t see Ghostchads whining about Flutter Mane being banned.
Ice is uniquely the only type where fags will complain about X thing but now Ice being banned. Probably because they know Ground, Fairy, and Ghost are actually good types on their own and don’t need overtuned stats and abilities to be viable.
There will be an Ice type version of Eternatus-Eternamax but as a pure Ice type, with the stat overflow glitch making defenses 0 so it only takes 2 damage on 1 side, and Icefags will bitch about it being banned.

Without Gliscor in the meta to keep it in check it had few viable checks and no outright counters. Its Unburden set could only really be checked offensively by Barraskewda in rain, and defensively you couldn't be certain what to switch into it until its entire moveset was revealed. You could end up losing 2+ Pokemon just trying to stop it, 3+ if it had a non-Flying Tera type.

Sheer Cold aside, they banned the 3 properly designed offensive ice types, plus soft-banned Cloyster (King's Rock, because 60% flinch rate is only acceptable if the user is Jirachi or Togekiss). That's about 90% of all offensive ice types this gen.
If Kyurem and G-Darm were available they would be banned too.
There is a pretty clear correlation between offensive ice types and bans, can we just admit that the meta can't handle them?

Baxcalibur can’t be burned and benefits from being hit by Fire moves
Iron Bundle is slightly weaker than Flutter Mane
Sheer Cold is an OHKO move like Fissure or Horn-Drill
Snow Cloak is a clone of Sand Veil
Moody was banned on more than just Glalie, and it was better on Scovillian anyways.

Because rvery gen OU players design their teams completely disregarding offensive ice types because "lol ice types don't matter" and go surprised Pikachu face when, in fact, they do matter.
Rather than allowing the meta to settle (i.e. letting popular ice-weak mons drop) they decide to ban the "problem" ice types.
A similar argument can be done about the other questioable bans, regardless of type.

Ice is a huge disadvantage for it and one of the reasons mentioned for potentially not banning it. Chi-Yu was banned before it despite being slower and frailer because Fire/Dark >>>> Ice/Dark.

Pao wasn't a wallbreaker in the same way which is why it was banned later, the Ice type has little to do with it

Taking hits is inevitable, especially when you're Stealth Rock weak.

Ice is an above average offensive type, but it's not one of the top 5 best. Fairy, Fighting, Ground, Fire, and Water are all better.

Ice isn't an "incredibly useful STAB". It's a great coverage option for a lot of Pokemon, but as a STAB it's terrible because of the drawbacks of using an Ice type (not being able to switch in on anything, eating 25% minimum from Stealth Rocks).

Iron Bundle got banned primarily because of its stats. Lapras and Arctovish had the same unresisted STAB combination since Gen 8 and neither of them were any good.

Dragapult has a SpA stat of 100 and even then it's a borderline case. It got banned in Gen 8 National Dex because it had access to actually decent physical Ghost STAB. It would've been banned if it got Poltergeist in Gen 8 OU. Dragapult is even ranked as the 3rd best Pokemon in OU right now.

It’s attack stat can only use Phantom Force, Dragon Darts, and Tera Blast as its best STAB options. Literally, on the recommend sets, CB Dragapult will use fucking Double-Edge simply because its physical movepool is so barren. Iron Bundle also has Quark Drive so if you have Booster Energy you get a free Scarf or a free Life Orb.

Lando still has intimidate, a Ground/spikes immunity and spikes are arguably better than SR right now. Lando is still superior to Swampert right now as a bulky pivot. Intimidate is okay, but it's not the juggernaut of an ability that it is in doubles. It effectively has more defense on the physical side than Swampert because of it, but Swampert is all around bulkier. Sneaky pebbles are really strong still, and with Gliscor being gone, Spikes aren't as huge of an issue.

Swampert does not match up better against Gambit, it doesn't switch into Kowtow as nicely as Lando does and speedier Kingambit sets outspeed defensive Swampert so no need for Sucker Punch mindgames it just clicks an attack. Tusk is a bit of a mixed bag as Lando has intimidate and resists/is immune to both of it's STABs and Lando blows up Tusk with Grass Knot but it has to be a bit wary of Ice Spinner. Swampert on the other hand does not switch into either of Tusk's STABs well but Tusk can't hit Swampert with 4x SE coverage. Over all I think Lando still handles Tusk better because -1 attack lets it take at least 1 Ice Spinner and hit back. Swampert does handle Moth better but Energy Ball/Tera Grass is pretty common on Moth. Swampert will likely have a niche but Lando will probably be comfortably OU like it was during the Home meta before Gliscor dropped.

Sleep is rarely a viable option, because there's so many ways around it. Grass types are immune to spore + sleep powder, and anything can be grass thanks to tera. Mons with guts will run flame orb, so they can't be hit by other status. Then there's abilities like magic guard, shed skin, etc. Or you can block it with substitute. Darkrai was once considered one of the top 5 Pokemon in the game in Gen 4. Even in Gen 5 it was an A-tier Uber, and in Gen 6 it was considered the 7th best Pokemon in the game behind Mega-fug, Primal-don, Xerneas, Mega-Gengar, Mega-mence, and Arceus.

Gen 7+ it's considered one of the worst Ubers, and it'll probably drop to OU this generation. Just having an 80% accurate sleep move was enough to turn it from an awful Pokemon to an amazing one.

They didn't do that but in gen 8 you couldn't use old gen transfer moves in ranked matches online but Smogon allowed you to use them anyways. For example, Bisharp couldn't learn Knock Off in Gen 8 but you could transfer one from Gen 7 with it. Since Gen 9 just wipes those moves they can't learn entirely they have also been removed from their movepool in Smogon formats (still in the natdex format though).

In lieu of your gaslighting, I went and checked every meta over the past 4 generations and found the only time it's ever been recommended for Amoonguss to run AssVest was the Smogon alt meta Godly Gift in Gen 8. There was no VGC or Smogon meta where Amoonguss had more than 0.2% AssVest usage.

Amoonguss can't run it effectively like Tangrowth can since it doesn't hit as hard as Tangrowth and doesn't have the potency due to lacking Knock Off. Tangrowth was even UU last generation. If Amoonguss lost Spore, it'd be pushed by Tangrowth down into RU and eventually NU

Breloom is much slower than Darkrai which really affects how powerful its Spore can be. Basically the only thing it can possibly outspeed is a defensive Pokemon. Darkrai can outspeed the vast majority of all Pokemon. If Game Freak came out and buffed Breloom to 120 base speed (still slower than Darkrai) Breloom would get banned to Ubers and VGC players would be in shambles.

OU. U-turn is one of the, if not THE, strongest move in 6v6 singles. It got Cinderace banned in Gen 8. Flying moves are also particularly common thanks to Zapdos, Corviknight, and the now banned Sneed and Moon.

What powercreep? The best Pokemon in Ubers in Gen 7 were all in Gen 6 with the exception of Necrozma and DM (which Darkrai matches up well against). Primal Groudon was the #1 Pokemon in Gen 6 ubers and it reprised its role in Gen 8.

In VGC, Flutter Mane wouldn’t be a restricted and Mewtwo would. Not only is Mewtwo competing for a team slot in VGC, its also competing with the restricted slot where it competes with the likes of Calyrex-S.
At least with Flutter Mane, you can use it as a mini Calyrex-S in case you want to use other restricteds or if you want to use 2.
You should actually do some critical thinking and not just “SMOGON BAD” every response.

Flutter Mane is meaningfully faster and bulkier (on the Special side) than Mewtwo. Mewtwo hits harder and has a larger bag of tricks, but Flutter Mane just outclasses Mewtwo in every meaningful way competitively, especially in a tier with a Pokemon that sets sun on switch in.

If Flutter Mane and Mewtwo dropped to OU, Mewtwo would have like 35% usage while Flutter Mane would have like 80% usage because Flutter Mane just hardcounters Mewtwo.

Neither stall nor offense could handle Bloodmoon. It was insanely dominant at high level play. Tera Poison CM + Moonlight was nigh unbeatable. There's a reason 90% of top players voted to ban it.

And that's a problem, a healthy metagame has multiple viable playstyles. Most chiefly, hyper offense, bulky offense, balance and stall.

If all four of these playstyles aren't viable, the game is broken
