It would be interesting if there were so few of them that the phenomenon of divergence would occur, as happened with the cichlids in Lake Malawi or with the lemurs in Madagascar, where these species share a common ancestor and upon arriving in a place with little fauna, they exploit the different niches.
We could have:
A giant terrestrial Gliscor swimming in the sand
Tranpich of different castes protecting a fat Flygon queen
A steel Sandlash that travels like a fake tumbleweed
Mascarain predators that form a swarm and attack together like wishiwashi.
Giant Hoppips based on tomatoes that roll instead of flying
Donphan that absorb large amounts of underground water and function as living oases
Giant terrestrial Golbat that are the apex predator
Aggron quadrupeds that are living fossils
A Quagsire that turned to stone during droughts and only came back to life with rain, the same for its eggs (Based on lungfish and killifish eggs)
And much more, but all based on just those 9 species
