i really want to see a genuinely seasoned champion, someone who has traveled the world and seen most of what it has to offer, kinda like cynthia but more refined and reclusive. they use some of the rarer, even if not necessarily stronger mons they've found on their travels, with their experience helping them bring out the potential from their team, without heavy gimmick reliance. in the story, they would reluctantly come back to and agree to fill in as champion of their home region.
for the actual team, milotic would be a standard mix between defense and offense with leftovers/berry + recover + scald/surf + ice beam, alongside having dragon tail to deal with players attempting to set up early
dhelmise could have a standard offensive set of power whip + poltergeist + anchor shot + rapid spin, allowing it to cover lots of potential types, especially those from a sneaky player who might've just set up hazards. would probably have a quick claw to discourage players trying to find a foolproof route against the team, or a sash. dhelmise is probably the weakest pick on the team but i think it fits perfectly for an experienced trainer
sigilyph would definitely want to make use of magic guard + life orb, maybe with some unique coverage moves as well or even tailwind to help out the rest of the team
mamoswine would obviously make use of it's powerful stab combo that helps against lots of weaknesses the rest of the team has, probably with a choice item or just a ground or ice boosting item to let it make use of it's unique trailblaze or knock off
heracross is just a surprise, fuck off physical attacker, although i think guts+flame orb would be a bit much for a pokemon game, so maybe it could make use of scarf or sash + moxie to clean up a wounded player
and finally arcanine is arcanine, i think it's the definitive gentleman/woman mon. it could maybe use flash fire because the rest of the team is fine on defense
