Rillaboom without the drum is sick. It doesn't do him any favors that his in game model is ugly as fuck compared to the official artwork either.

Pokémon has a surprisingly poor track record with Moneky designs.
The entire Rillaboom line, Oranguru, Ambipom, the entire Chimchar line, the Gen 5 elemental monkies, Passimian, and, if it counts, Darmanitan, are all ugly as fuck.
Really just the Mankey line and Zarude were able to do it well.

There's just nothing cool or interesting about it. It doesn't have an identity to it. Anthrofags won't care cause they didn't commit, feralfags won't either because it ruins the animal, not even monkey/ape fags like it and there's far better designs to choose from for that appeal. The ONLY people who like it are barafags.

Yeah, its the drum for me too. The base design is fine.
For what its worth I'm using one in a fangame with his Hidden Ability and he's been a beast so his performance there has made me like him more.

Sprigatito is an even worse case, BUT Sprigatito is cute. Rillaboom is just kinda bland. It's not even particularly gross or ugly.

I like Rillaboom but I feel like it's trying to be too many simians/monkeys/apes at once, particularly in the facial area; it looks flat rather than having a defined mouth, eyes, or nose. Having more inspired attack animations than "Left Right Point" would have helped too, inspired animations are necessary for making 3D mons feel alive.

I really don't dig the prop drum set. Really doesn't go with pokemon. Sticks as weapons is one thing, but a fucking drumset is too far for me and looks silly. Should have just beaten it's chest.
