>>54964275The way powercreep affects this franchise ensures that most offensive pokemon will always rotate in and out while defensive pokemon MOSTLY stick around. Fucking zapdos is still solid 20+ years later, as a defensive mon. Quagsire (and clodsire going forward), gastrodon, rotom wash, skarmory, gliscor, amoongus, hell even moltres has started showing up as a wall/tank since boots got added, and I'd bet money that most of those keep holding together teams next gen. Without some major bullshit like court change or battle bond, meowscarada is doomed to be replaced by a an offensive starter with 124 base speed, u turn, and spikes. Skeledirge will probably ride that mandibuzz type wave of being fringe viable bulky thing for another few gens. I'm interested in seeing where the duck goes in the future; setup sweepers are pretty replacable, but it's got some really funky utility stuff going on. Could see it ending up a bit like gen 6 infernape, where the defensive set becomes its bread and butter due to weird typing and movepool.
