Quite literally everything about RS onward set to change and contradict beliefs and worldbuilding elements that the Gameboy Era had, most notably with the "always been there" approach that made it so new Pokemon were no longer in-universe discoveries and are instead common knowledge people have ALWAYS known, and that eggs have been known for so long that Elm lost his one claim to fame in HGSS, shrugging off Togepi's egg like it's as common as a Pidgey rather than expressing disbelief and awe at what was originally a scarcely-documented aspect of Pokemon Life right before his very eyes.
