I guess for a lot of people it allowed their signature Pokémon to have more of a spotlight, to make them a special feature. None look too wildly different, they’re just a thematically direct upgrade so you get more of what you already liked.
It was nice to reimagine your favourite as a legendary in a way. I suppose the benefit of a temporary stasis was that you could be strategic about which one to use.
Losing megas directly takes away from the franchise as a whole because it’s actually cutting Pokémon species. Not moves, not a gimmick, but actual designs.
