Assuming this is true, not only does this mean that it's becoming closer to a "worm", aka caterpillar, and thus makes logical sense that it might have butterfly qualities, more importantly, it's a Pokemon. Which, very distinctly does not adhere strictly to real world biology like you're making an argument for. We have unrelated species evolve into unrelated species all the time, so even IF it was a "worm" and not a caterpillar, your attempted point still fails.
