Imagine if pokemon could have 3 types. Also imagine instead of x2 damage from super effective, it was only x1.5. So a rock/ground/water pokemon would receive x4 damage. Would pokemon be better like this?

Sad that this devolved into a schizo thread. I think having a couple Pokémon have triple types could be interesting, as well as Pokémon having two times the same type (all weaknesses/resists are *4 and gets double stab)

I have a pretty good concept for a 3rd Type system that I've had for a while. Disclaimer: I don't support the idea of 3rd Types at all, this is just how I think it should work if we have to live with it.

It doesn't function like a normal Type, it just sort of vaguely suggestive of it. >Salazzle does have a hidden Type by default, they always have Dark innately. Which of course functions to suggest that Dark is essentially Salazzle's "3rd Type" in a sense. Since Salazzle cannot change their hidden Type, it gets a stronger boost. It grants a x1.3 STAB boost and a +1/4th resistance to Dark Type moves

The point is that this is a way of suggesting "this pokemon has adapted to have traits reminiscent of this Type, but not quite enough that it actually IS this Type"

I agree. Also I wouldn't mind more moves similar to freeze-dry, where it also does super effective damage on some of the other higher tier types, like fairy and steel. (I absolutely love the steel type but honestly I like balance in pokemon more)

I know reading comprehension is not high among zoom zooms but c'mon. Sudowoodo isn't Grass and SHOULDN'T be Grass, but it has naturally adapted to resemble a tree and therefore Grass is its Hidden Type because that is what it is intentionally adapting to resemble

the number you're looking for is the cube root of 4. so, ~1.587

Every time you all get it into your head that adding complexity/depth to Pokemon is desirable, you should remind yourselves that Pokemon is for children, first and foremost.

The most you can hope for is a sidegame / spinoff for an older audience.
