I decided to play platinum after playing a lot of other games. And I didn't really need to look anything up as far as "where do I go next" until I was sent to Pastoria. I went south all the way from route 214, explored the resort, found the lost key, found a bunch of hidden stuff on the beach and couldn't find how to go to pastoria. I double checked every where to make sure where I should go. Turns out the beach had a one tile wide passage to the left, ending on an off-screen area. I have played RBY, GSC, RSE, HGSS and I can't remember a single one required passage, in the overworld, that looked like this. At a glance it seems like you are only looking at the transition from sand to water, there are no signs, no npcs. And the worst part, did it HAD to look like this? I can't think of either a lore or mechanical reason to justify making this part of the beach so thin. It can't be really called a "route" when it requires you to go straight through the middle of a hotel lobby.
