>>55018404>"It's not on the same tier as Citizen Kane so it's bad writing!"Come on dude. In the context of writing *in Pokémon*, gen 9 is absolutely one of the best, if not the best.
>Literally all Pokemon characters are walking, breathing archetypes that have nothing more to them.Lots of characters in SV are "more than they seem at first sight". Arven seems like an abrasive asshole as first, but turns out to be a very sweet and caring person who just went through a lot of trauma. Penny has basically a second personality in Cassiopeia and manages to "combine" it with her true self by the end, gaining confidence and standing up for herself.
Even Nemona who is mostly just a battle autist has more than just one layer to her personality with her background story about being an outsider and her rich family not caring much about her.
Even some minor NPCs like Saguaro and Hassel have little story bits that give their personalities a little bit more depth.
Are these things super original? No, they certainly didn't reinvent storytelling here. But to say every character is a walking trope with no depth is just wrong.
>And even for Pokemon standards SV characters barely get any fanart. What? That's just a plain lie. It has more art than SM on pixiv, for example. Kieran alone has around 2k now and the DLC isn't even out yet.
