The only forms of "quality of life" that are needed in pokemon are stuff like running shoes working indoors, repels prompting you to reuse them, or delectable HM moves. Not major gameplay elements. Every time this term is used now it feels like it’s just slang for casualization. If you ever used quality of life to justify a change that drastically warps how the game is played you need to kill yourself.
