>>55028589My parents got me Red when I was 6 in '99. The anime really helped me with going to school because I would wake up before my mom so I could watch the show. Somehow I found out that new episodes aired at 6am. I read the game manual, picked Bulbasaur because the manual said it was the best. Restarted and picked Squirtle when I couldn't beat Brock because I didn't have Vine Whip and didn't know how OP Leech Seed is. Restarted years later after finding out about the Mew glitch and got traded a Mew from my neighbor before I had caught my own.
My parents weren't super into it, so it was just a me thing. There were some other games my dad was into that I enjoyed sometimes playing with him. We didn't play games often because I didn't live with him and my mom didn't play video games. There were times where my dad would be into a game, and I wouldn't be, but later on I would be, but he had moved on from it.
I didn't play gen 2 because by the time it game out, I was "too old".It wasn't cool to like it in middle school. But in 8th grade a small Pokemon club formed and we played the gen 3 games. Battling and mixing records. It was "cool" to play the games again in high school. I had a friend hack my Emerald for me after I beat it so now I still have berries despite my battery being dead. Another friend traded me a Crobat to use and got Deoxys registered in my Dex.
I stopped playing at gen 4 because I didn't want to shell out for a DS. Pokemon fell off my radar until Go. I didn't have a smartphone to play it, and still don't now that I do. They should've had battles on launch. I got looking at the games again around the time USUM came out because I liked the idea of Title Defense, the E4 music was awesome & ORAS Delta Episode looked cool. I still don't play much. When I do it's gen 1 or 3. Trying to make myself play gen 2 sometime as blind as possible. I mainly enjoy the games by watching rom hacks & solo runs on Youtube.
Fuck the haters.
