>>55029932peak comfy. i usually hate the term but the game is genuinely kino
i personally haven't gotten around to the second, but it's definitely on my list because i enjoyed the first so much. from what i've heard tho it's definitely wise to play both and in order.
the music is supremely good and catchy, the gameplay is addictive, the story is short and sweet but does its job well to keep you engaged, the card art is amazing for a gbc game, and it's challenging enough as long as you don't use optimal rain dance or haymaker decks. i don't know how else to describe it, but the game seriously captures that 90s pokemania
speaking of, i'd recommend straying away from building an optimal rain dance or especially haymaker deck, they mostly trivialize the game and get stale really quickly. i personally ended up building a very fun nidoqueen/king deck that just puts down as many nidos as possible and using nidoqueen's boyfriends attack to hit big numbers, but you can really let yourself experiment with tons of cool gimmicks what with all the different abilities and attacks.
if you have any friends to play with i'd also recommend you play it off NSO if you have that, because then you can trade and battle your friends for more of a challenge. i did a dual playthrough with my friend and we did a battle every time we cleared a club, it was awesome.
overall amazing game, although 100%-ing it was my only gripe with it as grinding out promo cards through the tournaments gets pretty tedious.
