Like I don’t hate on any pokemon and there are some mons from the newer gens that I like. But if anything they should be the only things that are included in these hacks, and if they’re linked to a gimmick, find a way around it. Regional forms are shit, generational gimmicks are shit, trainer customization is shit, shiny odds above 1/8192 are shit, their shitty "replacements" for HMs are shit, powercreep forms are shit, dexnav is shit, the storage system being available from anywhere is shit. I’m tired of people including these retarded elements in their fangames or rom hacks, pokemon was good specifically when it didn’t have any of this garbage.

For now it's only gens 1-4 + regional forms and 2 extras being the chandelure and tinkaton lines.
The game itself for now is a far improved BDSP with actual QoL, new quests, better difficulty, and battle frontier coming sometime after the 3.0 update.
It's not trying to just be a romhack but the foundation for the next era of romhacking, it's trying to kill fire red.
On top of all that they are also working on a BDSP decomp to then add the lumi stuff but natively.
This is the most important pokemon endeavor out there at the moment.

That would be the final nail in the coffin for pokemon rom hacking. BDSP is a shitty base to start on, having nugen mechanics and things like stupid shiny odds. Sure these can be changed, but that will still make the default shit so there would be more to change. The only core mechanic things that really need to be changed for a firered hack are the physical special split, running shoes not working indoors and repels not prompting you to reuse them. If anything hacks should be done on gen 4 or gen 5. Them being done on BDSP will kickstart an era of every single rom hack being hot garbage.

These are part of what makes the new games bad. Putting the player’s hedonistic feelings above objective quality, doing everything to cause instant gratification for the player without having him actually work for anything or restricting him in any way, has been the design philosophy of gens 6 onwards, and is completely opposed to the one they had before. And modern rom hacks do the exact same thing.
