Didn't play sumo or lgpe, so can't speak for those ones. I agree with the others though, however I'd replace BW2 with BW1. Fuck invasive species lmao.

OP here, I used to be a huge Hoenn fan. For over a decade, I considered Emerald the best Pokemon game. But my taste changed, it seems. I don't like Hoenn as much anymore, and I thought it really does have "too much water". Emerald is still an amazing game tho, I just don't personally enjoy it as much as I used to.

I think that LGPE is one of the most underrated games in the franchise. It's unironically really good imo.

Emerald's contests are better than those in Platinum, I will give you that.
The Secret Bases are good in both Emerald and Platinum.
The exploration is worse than Platinum because Hoenn is bloated with too much water.
The Battle Facilities in Emerald are very good, but they're also a bit overrated. The lack of Super Mode, and the lack of physical special split makes them inferior to some other games.

Tbh Hoenn may be the lowest of the first five regions (which are the only ones that matter)
Hoenn is hard carried by the battle frontier and its kino events also the pomeg glitch

Honestly, pretty based tastes that are pretty different from mine. You seem to like the “best / most” from the series

I think that, overall, Platinum is the best game in the franchise, and HGSS is a very close second. They also have the most content overall. So that's why I like those games so much.

With BW2 and USUM, the main reason I like them is they have the best Battle Facilities imo (the PWT and Battle Tree, respectively). They also have a bigger Pokemon selection to choose from, especially USUM.

And LGPE is the comfiest game, imo. It has the best graphics like you said, but also the best art style and the most attention to detail with small things like Pokemon following you, etc.
