Apple Worm/Snake/Dragon is just a good concept, but his original evolutions kinda dropped the ball and he never became popular.

They had Kitakami planned out and needed some sort of festival-adjacent Pokemon. They wanted to put focus on this Pokemon so they gave it to an important trainer. But because this DLC is intended to be played in the middle of a regular story playthrough, they needed to wait until the second DLC to give it an even more powerful form.

I wish more evolutionary lines branched. It's still a bit weird that only one of them will be able to evolve further.

Pokemon would be better if there were more instances of that. A Pokemon that you can evolve right away and falls off later, or an evolution that isn't as good at first but can become stronger when it evolves later on.

They should dedicate an entire gen just to fleshing out existing evo lines with more evolution branches. It would make your playthrough more interesting and choice filled. I feel like they kinda gave up on branches after gen 4.

That logic doesn't work when Flapple, Appletun & Dipplin all have the same BST and basically all evolved through the same method
