Clavell had Clive killed and covered up the evidence by trying to gaslight the player into thinking he never existed. Think about it: Clive attended class less than Team Star. Clavell was probably angry that Clive was hanging around all of the Team Star bases, on top of being drastically behind on his studies. He didn't want Team Star to get expelled; that's why he sent you on the mission in the first place. But Clive NEVER went to class. He was a lost cause. He had to go.
