There is a high chance it will happen. In fact, GO is a remake of yellow instead of RGB. I remember they said in the interview that they were worried about removing random encounters affecting players because some programmers at that time still liked the old style, they thought the new ideas would flop but in the end it was successful.

There is no proof that they will follow the above pattern but anything can happen.
