Nobody won, nothing was explained, we don't even know if that was the actual professor or a ghost, you literally go to the lake where you see dead people.
We didn't get any conclusive answer to anything and the scene provided no context, hint or information of literally anything. This is actually the first post I'm seeing of someone saying anyone won any debate--everyone invested in the plot right now is just confused or angry about the nothingburger the DLC turned out to be.
