Because people here accept to understand the reality of game development. Game Freak are stretched between multiple projects at all time (regardless of whether it's a bad idea or not and regardless of whether it's greedy, this is the reality). So as game development gets harder and the scale of the games expected increases as we move into open world style games, we will see more and more loose ends and undeveloped ideas. We've been seeing this since Gen 6 where fans assume there's some master plan behind the lore of the games rather than it being the product of a probably passionate low level worker who is forced to rush out their work to fit their time and budget constraints. There is no logic behind the lore or story, nor behind many of the decisions made because Game Freak HAVE TO be thinking about the next games they will develop, rather than putting their all into the one they're currently making.

This fucking flop of a game started thr current trend of Gamefreak splitting their team. Gamefreak is tired of making pokemon and they tried "really hard" to make a different RPG game that they hoped would at least bait casual pokemon fans into consuming something else, but instead they just made a bad forgettable game lol.

But ever since they did Little Town Hero and decided to gimp SwSh for it, they stuck with splitting the team so they can make two mid games for a yearly pokemon release instead of spending more time on making any ACTUALLY GOOD pokemon games.

Didn't buy the DLC, but all the buzz got me to open the game up again. I thought, "you know, I bet this game isn't as hideous and poorly optimized as I remember." I open up the game after about a year, and no, it's genuinely worse than I remember. Ugly as sin, constantly chugging, the towns are empty and lifeless (same with the world), the boxes are fucked (it took five seconds to load the model of my shiny crocodile starter). It is fun to just run around and look at wild Pokemon, but that's about all the game has going for it.
Then I put in PLA, since I wanted to check out my shiny alpha Pokemon, and it was like a revelation. I remember thinking PLA was hideous when it first released, but holy fuck. Not saying it's a great game by any means, but at least its artstyle papers over the bad graphics, and at least it doesn't run at a consistent 12 frames a second.
