I really want them to just reset the lore in Gen 10 and erase everything from the Mega timeline since it's just way too convoluted and complex. We've got megas, z moves, dmax, gmax, tera and etc...

They won't change it since they're probably too scared of alienating fans that have grown attached to these battle gimmicks, and the last time they reset anything (BW) they got huge backlash for better or for worse.

But ORAS was definitely the one to solidify the multiverse stuff which just plants the seeds for lazy writing and major plotholes, like that of the SV DLC today. Even PLA, as much as I enjoyed it, has lore that is inconsistent within the games storyline itself, let alone complying with other games.

Yeah they may be some duds but it's the most soulful of all the gimmicks. Call it lazy rehashing if you want but it makes sense that some Pokémon would adapt to a different environment.

i can see how that would be appealing to somebody but i can't see it as anything other than nostalgia pandering laziness

it wouldn't be so bad if they took breaks in between gens. what they did in the 2D era was good. also, i think Gastrodon is an example of a pokemon changing appearance based on location done right, simply because both it's variants were introduced in the same gen and there of course was no nostalgia pandering there because Gastrodon didn't exist in any game prior to DP

The research material the professor leaves scattered around mentions the white book you trade to them, along with being "in an eastern land". So unless the professor was a ghost the entire time/Arven never had a parent and the entire game is his schizophrenic hallucination, it has to be timetravel, not ghosts

I haven't finished playing the DLC yet. Is this really what Game Freak went for? Dino Universe and Robo Universe. If they did, I am simultaneously surprised and unsurprised.

Nah, it's a looping daisy chain of timelines running infinitely into bootstrapping each other. Protagonist from Violet A ends up meeting Turo from Violet B, who receives Briar's Expedition Book and then goes on to go schizo back in Violet B, which later sets things up for Protagonist of Violet B to meet Turo from Violet C, repeat ad nauseum.
