The subtext with Carmine is ever more obvious in Indigo Disk. You can also give replies like a dick and the charatchers won't just conveniently interpret it to mean something good. >the levels of your Pokémon in box
>and even something as small as if you make the sandwich without putting bread on top
That's all pretty cool. Actually makes me want to replay the DLC just to see some of the stuff I missed.

Gen 5's story seemed good compared to the absolute dreck we had before. It actually has some coherent theming and tries to make the player think. It doesn't go far enough to actually be "good," but it really does try, and that alone puts it well above the first four generations in terms of writing.
SV's story is way better, of course.

The saddest part about modern Pokemon is Ohmori. As much as /vp/ likes to hate on him, the guy has a VERY clear vision what kind of Pokemon game he wants to make. He just isn't given the time or manpower to see any of those ideas to fruition, so his games feel much more half-finished than previous games.

It's not specifically the levels of your pokemon, it's something specific to his trial. He wants you to take on 3 gym trainers with just pokemon caught in the Blueberry academy.

The old lady eventually accepts it after you beat the main story in Kitakami.

I tried tbuying stuff from her with LP three times during the Kitakami storyline and she had different responses for each try. Eventually at the third try she told me she’ll ask the elder (I forgot his exact title). After the main story she tells the player she’ll start accepting LP.

Honestly I do believe this games story and writing are some of the best in a Pokémon game. I’m also impressed at all the different dialogue options and variations it has. It really is even more of a role playing game in a traditional sense.

I got her to accept LP before beating the Kitakami storyline but I'm not certain what did it, just kept asking. Apparently asking at least 3 times does it and -maybe- waiting a day in-game after she says she'll ask the caretaker. I had beaten the main storyline before starting Teal Mask though, no idea if that changes it at all.

The top bread doesn't affect what boosts a sandwich gives you, but it can still potentially knock off other ingredient, and losing ingredients like that WILL change the outcome.

Therefore, it's best to just drop the bread far away from the sandwich.

They clearly gave the writers [or loc team, who knows] a bit more license this time around. You had sassy dialogue choices in regular SV too and I think it was a positive change albeit a small one. Writers trying to be comedians generally ends badly but it works if it's self-aware and meta, like with Iono's dialogue or the stuff you've mentioned
